Stuart Niven

Stuart Niven grew up in Wellington and studied architecture at Auckland University and urban design at Oxford Polytechnic in England. He helped initiate urban design as a discipline in New Zealand after working for Wellington City Council in the 1990s and was then lured to Australia (for 18 years), where he respectively led the City of Melbourne’s urban design studio for a few years and was the Victorian State Government’s Director of Urban Design for 7 years. In private urban design practice for 10 years, he has recently joined Stellar Projects Ltd to establish an urban design capability as part of the consultancy’s urban advisory, planning and landscape architecture disciplines.
