Joe is a Registered Architect, certified Passive House designer, Homestar assessor and trainer, and director of WEL Architecture — a practice based on the three pillars of ‘Design, Consult, Teach’, with a focus on beautiful, low-energy, healthy buildings.
Originally from North Yorkshire in the UK, Joe studied and worked in London before making the move to New Zealand in 2016. He is especially passionate about high-performance and healthy buildings and built his own Passive House Certified home on a tight budget to show healthier, affordable buildings are possible for everyone in New Zealand.
Joe is a dad to three lively Kiwis and loves spending his time outdoors either in the wilderness or working on their three-acre section to slowly turn it into a mixture of re-wilded native bush, productive vegetable gardens and food forests using permaculture techniques.
