So you found or made some holes (literally) in the fire separations by installing cables, pipes, lights, access control, plumbing (walls/ ceilings) … now what?

While many think they know what to do to fire stop a hole, 99% are getting it wrong! It’s important to know what to do and what NOT to do when sealing a hole in a fire separation.

Come to this session on the practical applications of how to fix up / install / inspect these systems.

Session 1: Common problems - practical solutions
Basic intro to passive systems – how they work, how to install, what some manufacturers don’t tell you and how to maintain:

  • How to fix them up
  • What systems to use including: sealants / collars / wraps, boards and more
  • What not to do!
  • How to use the systems correctly - tips and tricks /pitfalls
  • Various major systems in NZ

Session 2: How to stop the damage from happening again
What to leave the building manager / owner / contractors with so the system is not stuffed up. Writing it all up:

  • Identifying and documenting fire penetrations - value add - low cost tips
  • Inspections and findings
  • Documenting the installation / repair
