The NZIA Auckland Branch Winter Lecture Series is back, and promises to be just as interesting as ever. Titled “Transformation Auckland”, it takes a look at some major projects that are either planned or are underway that will alter and enhance the Auckland cityscape, alongside one in New Plymouth.

Taking place on Thursday 2 July at Jasmax in Parnell, the New Zealand Steel/Steel & Tube Auckland Winter Lecture Series will present three key speakers:

Garth Falconer of Reset Urban: Gareth will present the concept and planning behind the new Harbour Bridge cycle/pedestrian path. Long awaited, SkyPath will provide the critical link in the central city transportation system connecting the city through Westhaven to the North Shore at Northcote Point.
Pip Cheshire of Cheshire Architects: Pip will talk about the new SKHY Apartments on Khyber Pass Road. From one of the highest vantage points in Auckland, these apartments share a spectacular outlook over the city, its parks and harbours, and the distant Waitakere Ranges, and are a good example of higher density inner city living and sensitive adaptive reuse.
Andrew Mitchell/Luke Douglas of Patterson Architects: both will talk on the Len Lye Contemporary Art Museum in New Plymouth, which will be New Zealand’s only dedicated single artist gallery. The Len Lye Museum will integrate with a proposed new art and cultural precinct which links through to the commercial heart of the city and will merge seamlessly with an existing Art Gallery facility.

There will be 20 CPD points available for those who attend the NZIA Auckland Branch Lecture Series.
