Future Proof 2012 presents Carol Boyle
Associate Professor Carol Boyle has been undertaking research in sustainability and its application to engineering for the past 15 years. Her recent focus on urban infrastructure and the built environment aims to assist in shifting cities to become more liveable and healthier environments.
The greening of infrastructure and the built environment may provide one of the major opportunities to achieve sustainability for urban environment, offering drinking, storm and wastewater management, temperature attenuation, carbon sequestration, increased biodiversity and reductions in air pollution. However, achieving this potential requires not only sound research but also good management practices based on sound research. Auckland City has the opportunity to incorporate green infrastructure and this presentation will discuss some of the initial research on this direction.
Talk is from 12 - 1pm.
