Fast Forward lecture series: Paul Walker
The Sydney Convention Centre was closed for demolition in December, 2013.
In this talk, Paul Walker of the University of Melbourne considers the fate of Sydney’s demolished Convention Centre in relation to the trajectory of other significant buildings by John Andrews and other architects of “the third generation”.
Walker will also look into the building’s connection to the mid-century debates (between the post-war leaders of the Congrès Internationaux de l’Architecture Moderne and Team 10) about architecture, monumentality, urbanism and community out of which Andrews’ design approach developed.
