Women who work in all aspects of the architecture industry will be showcasing their work in an exhibition beginning 19 September in Auckland. Between Silos will be held at Wynyard Quarter’s Silo Park and will include digital projections of projects large and small by women from all around the country including Hayley Fisher from Warren and Mahoney, Raukura Turei from Stevens Lawson Architects and Megan Edwards of Megan Edwards Architects.

Augmenting the digital portion of the exhibition, which is being held in conjunction with the Architecture + Women NZ Symposium 2013: Architecture in an Expanded Field, will be a series of physical models and sculptures chosen by curator Arianne Craig Smith.

Following the Auckland season, the exhibition will travel to Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin.

Between Silos is an opportunity to discover the often-hidden creative work of women designers. By looking further than the named directors and firm principals, a rich and varied social history of our built environment is drawn together that reveals a new aspect to New Zealand’s renowned architecture.

Architecture + Women NZ is a non profit organization created to raise the visibility of women in architecture and provide a framework for connections, collegiality, discussion and celebration. For more information about the exhibition and the symposium, visit the website.
