The 9th Australasian Housing Researchers Conference takes place at the University of Auckland from 17–19 February 2016.

The 9th Australasian Housing Researchers Conference 2016 will be hosted by the Urban Research Network at the University of Auckland from Wednesday 17 to Friday 19 February, 2016.

The Australasian Housing Researchers conference is an annual conference that was established in 2006 as an interdisciplinary forum for the housing research community. It provides an opportunity for social scientists from the university and industry sectors to network, present research findings and critically consider contemporary issues in housing theory and policy.

The conference provides an essential opportunity for housing researchers to exchange their theoretical and empirical research with other researchers from a wide range of disciplines, and from academic, government and non-government sectors.

It is open to all researchers concerned with housing issues including: affordability and homelessness, housing policy and planning, housing economics, housing sustainability, and regional, national and international housing markets.

Keynote speakers include:

  • Professor Nicole Gurran, Professor of urban and regional planning at the University of Sydney, who will discuss planning and the supply of affordable homes.
  • Professor Ken Gibb, Professor of housing economics in the school of social and political sciences and director of Policy Scotland, both at the University of Glasgow. Professor Gibb will discuss housing policy in Scotland and England after devolution.
