Wynyard Quarter’s 7-tonne resident
Te Tuhi art gallery, based in Pakuranga, Auckland, plans to bring its gallery projects closer to Aucklanders.
Te Tuhi launched its first Offsite project in July 2013, with the unveiling of Landshaft – a seven tonne sculpture by New Zealand artist Derrick Cherrie – at Auckland’s Wynyard Quarter. The sculpture was taken apart at its Pakuranga location and rebuilt at Karanga Plaza on the waterfront.
Artist Derrick Cherrie has exhibited widely since the early 90s and his work is held in many New Zealand public collections. He is currently the Head of Elam School of Fine Arts at the University of Auckland.
Landshaft can be viewed at Karanga Plaza in Wynyard Quarter until 23 September 2013.
