We partnered with Big Street Bikers to give one company a test fleet of three e-bikes for two weeks. Has your firm won?
A few months ago, we spoke to Mercury about their pursuit to educate people on alternative transport – alternatives to single-rider petrol cars, which are not only expensive to run and clog up our roads, but they contribute about 4.6 metric tonnes of carbon dioxide per year to our environment.
We were curious about the attitudes of professionals in the built environment towards these alternative models of transport. We conducted a survey and found that a majority had positive reactions to e-mobility and felt that sustainability was an important issue to them. For the purposes of our survey, alternative transport includes things like electric vehicles and bicycles, along with public transport and car sharing programmes.
Many respondents reported that their companies supported the use of alternative transport methods with incentives like subsidised public transport costs, memberships to car sharing programmes, secure bike parking, showering facilities and electric bikes for staff use.
