Mildred & Co. isn’t a new company; the online store and wedding registry created by Milly Nolan has been keeping design-savvy brides and grooms happy for a while now. But it’s now the proud inhabitant of a purpose-built showroom in Auckland’s Newton.

Designed by architect Jose Gutierrez, the warehouse space has been designed to show off Nolan’s curated design pieces and kitchen accoutrement and to act as an office and storehouse for the Mildred & Co. team. Best of all, it’s also designed to be a venue for inner-city parties, functions – even weddings – which makes it a welcome addition to the limited list of Auckland venues that are super chic.

Inside, the colour scheme has been kept monchromatic. High-gloss concrete floors, black cabinetry and white walls keep the 135m² foyer industrial but chic, as do hanging pendant lights and floor-to-ceiling doors at both ends of the building. Philippe Starck stools, Bodum appliances, Seletti ceramics, pieces of art by Kelly Thompson and The Art Room bed linens are on display. Outside, an internal courtyard makes the most of the sunny position of the building.
