Calling all architects, building owners, designers, engineers, quantity surveyors and contractors – the New Zealand Commercial Project Awards are now open for 2021.

The only competition of its type in New Zealand to celebrate teamwork and collaboration, these awards recognise and raise the profile of entrants among their peers, potential clients and the wider sector. They are also a fantastic way of celebrating and thanking the team that made your amazing project happen. Established in 2013, The New Zealand Commercial Project Awards is proudly brought to you by Registered Master Builders. The awards recognise outstanding New Zealand buildings – and the teams who bought them to life – which are vital to the social fabric and vibrancy of our communities. From apartments to schools, offices, hospitals, libraries and tourism facilities, there are 10 award categories to fit all commercial projects no matter how big or small.

All entries are judged by a panel of two expert judges – a commercial contractor and one other experienced member of the construction industry. When asked about some of the trends that they are seeing in the sector, the judges from last year’s competition said that they are pleased that there is an increased focus on working more efficiently.

Technology is being used across the board to help manage the build process and to ensure defect-free buildings at the time of completion. The judges also said that they are noticing more practical examples of collaboration, from working more effectively with dedicated teams to earlier engagement with councils for consenting. Judges also saw a greater focus on sustainability, with new building practices in place to reduce waste, as well as building more efficient and sustainable buildings.

The New Zealand Commercial Project Awards are open to all New Zealand based commercial construction project partners – you do not need to be a member of Master Builders to enter.
