Teeing off
The annual New Zealand Institute of Building (NZIOB) PlaceMakers Golf Day was a another success this year with more than 120 construction professionals teeing off at Pakuranga Golf Club on Monday (24 February).
The event saw teams of four competing on the 18-hole course, while undertaking different activities at each hole, with sponsors providing a construction-themed activity.
Golfers played giant jenga at the Progressive Building hole, attempting to construct the tallest tower in two minutes, while PlaceMakers and GIB® had particpants chipping and putting, Resene had budding golf artists painting, and Tenderlink a Key/Obama golf caption contest.
The event culminated with a dinner and prize giving at the club. PlaceMakers Cook Street Team 2 won the overall team competition, with Hirepool in second place, and Hawkins Construction taking out third place.
The James Hardie chipping competition became a lucky draw with Shaun Russell of Anchor Wire winning a superb golf bag.
Best dressed on the day went to the Wizard of OZ Team of White Associates.
Placemakers Cook Street Chipping prizes went to Lyndon Evans of Hawkins Construction, Ian Doyle of Aspec Construction and Hylton Wynyard of Ebert Construction.
The two members of the team who won the overall Progressive Building competition will be announced in the April issue along with a selection of great snaps from the day. The winners will each receive a 90-piece screwdriver and drillbit set from DeWalt worth $250.
