Studio Pacific Architecture announces new Executive Director
Studio Pacific has aims to increase governance expertise with the appointment of a new Executive Director – James Wallace – who will join the Board on a three-year term.
Studio Pacific Board Chair, Dr. Helen Anderson, says that as the practice continues to evolve, the Executive Director role is important for adding to the diversity of perspectives that help govern Studio Pacific. “James brings extensive senior leadership and project experience across key sectors including commercial, education, residential and community buildings. He has played an instrumental role in the growth and success of Studio Pacific, contributing creative and technical excellence, strong leadership skills, and providing the highest standard of client service,” says Anderson.
Wallace has been a part of Studio Pacific’s Leadership Team for a number of years and was appointed as a Senior Principal in 2019. In 2021, he was one of two Associate Directors appointed to the board for a two year term, which concluded in August 2023. During his 16 years at Studio Pacific, Wallace has contributed to both project leadership, research, and leadership and governance. He has led a variety of our master-planning, residential, education and community project teams as well as numerous building performance research projects. Wallace is dedicated to strengthening his understanding of Te Reo Māori and Mātauranga Māori and is passionate about working with iwi and hapū on their projects across Aotearoa.
Wallace will join Executive Directors and founders of Studio Pacific Architecture Evžen Novák (Managing Director), Nick Barratt-Boyes and Stephen McDougall; and Independent Directors Dr. Helen Anderson (Chair) and Linda Meade on the Board.
