In addition to the 33 categories that the World Architecture Festival (WAF) awards projects in, there are 11 other Prizes, which celebrate everything from architectural photography and drawing to best use of natural light.

For New Zealand projects, alongside the 20 finalists already announced and Auckland’s B:Hive on the Inside Festival shortlist, three more finalists for WAF Prizes have been named. Lindis Lodge by Architecture Workshop is a finalist for the Best Use of Certified Timber Prize; Freemans Bay Primary School Re-development by RTA Studio is on the shortlist for the Use of Colour Prize; and the Nelson School of Music by Irving Smith Architects has been shortlisted for the Small Projects Prize.

Prize winners are announced and presented with a trophy on the final night of the World Architecture Festival in Amsterdam on 6 December 2019.
