Nominations open: Commonwealth architecture award
The Commonwealth Association of Architects have opened nominations for the 2015 Robert Matthew Award to celebrate the 50 year anniversary of the formation of the organization.
The Robert Matthew Award is held every three years, and it is designed to recognize innovative contibutions that help to develop architecture – particularly in Commonwealth countries. New Zealand is a member country and is encouraged to submit entries for the award.

5. Ian Ritchie Architects of UK – 1994
6. Greg Burgess Architects of Australia – 1997
7. TR Hamzah and Yeang of Malaysia – 2000
8. BalkrishnaDoshi of India – 2003
The award can be won by either an individual architect or an architectural office, and the winner receives a cash prize, a medal and a certificate. Nominations can be made by members of the Commonwealth Association of Architects.
Sir Robert Hogg Matthew was a leading member of the modernist movement, and served as the president of the Royal Institute of British Architects from 1962 to 1964. Matthew was knighted in 1962, and also spent time as the president of the Commonwealth Association of Architects and the International Union of Architects. He founded the practice Robert Matthew Johnson Marshall in 1956.
The deadline for submissions is 10 December 2015, and an awards ceremony will be held in Lahore, Pakistan in March or February 2016.
