Architecture+Women.NZ has announced that Unitec Te Pūkenga lecturer Gina Hochstein will be joining incumbent Maria Chen as the organisation’s new co-chair, effective from May.

Hochstein comes with practice-based and academic publication experience along with a strong advocacy background, including involvement in Architecture+Women.NZ. While lecturing at Unitec Te Pūkenga, Hochstein is also finishing her PhD at the University of Auckland Waipapa Taumata Rau.

“I’m excited to be part of an organisation that brings visibilty to the documented disparities within the architectural profession and that promotes equity of women,” says Hochstein.

In making the appointment, Architecture+Women.NZ has also acknowledged the work of the outgoing co-chair Anner Chong and her dedication to the role, “especially in committing to an extended term until a new co-chair of Hochsteins’s calibre could be found”.

With an ongoing focus on raising the visibility of women in the architectural profession in Aotearoa, Architecture+Women.NZ champions diversity, inclusion and equity. This year will see the triennial Architecture+Women.NZ Dulux Awards, along with several other regular events, that further the conversation and bring women involved in the profession of architecture in New Zealand to the fore.
