New associate director appointed at Ignite Architects
Previously employed as an associate at Australia’s Grey Puksand, mixed-use specialist Kevin Adasko has been appointed to the firm’s specialist commercial team at their Auckland offices.
Coming from a background in the mixed-use sector, Adasko has delivered international projects in countries such as Singapore and the United Kingdom. At Ignite, he will continue to work in mixed-use developments, shaping the firm’s delivery of projects in the Asia-Pacific region. Ignite principal Grant Armstrong says that Adasko’s “design skill and collaborative approach fit well with Ignite’s passion for creating great spaces for people. Kevin’s appointment continues to strengthen Ignite’s position as a key design leader in the mixed-use space.”
Carrying on from Armstrong, Adasko emphasises the role of placemaking in designing mixed-use projects. “It enriches the amenity of a place and creates an attractive destination that people are drawn to. I’m really excited to contribute to and build upon the work Ignite is delivering.” Along with placemaking, he also points to the importance of stakeholder engagement in gaining useful insights into the needs and behaviours of the community. “When you learn about a new culture, you can appreciate the subtle differences and create an architectural design that celebrates them. To get it right, you have to engage with communities, people, and conversations.”
