Claude Megson recognised in UK civic architecture journal
A comprehensive review of the work of New Zealand architect Claude Megson and its relevance to the UK contemporary scene has appeared in the UK Journal of Civic Architecture, edited by Patrick Lynch.
The 18-page feature, by UK-based Kiwi architect Giles Reid, is extensively illustrated with Megson’s drawings from the University of Auckland’s School of Architecture collection and includes new photographs by Jackie Meiring.
Reid says it was encouraging to see Lynch devoting so much space to a New Zealand architect and discussing Megson’s relevance to the UK contemporary scene. The 4000-word feature, titled Forgotten Radical: The Architecture of Claude Megson, profiles 10 of the architect’s houses and includes 35–40 photos and drawings. It is published alongside an interview with Tony Fretton, a photo essay by Sue Barr and a piece on the late Luigi Snozzi.
