Meet Resene: Interior Awards 2021 sponsor
Introducing our 2021 Interior Awards sponsors: Resene is a 10-year sponsor of the Awards, supplying quality paint, colour, stains, wallpaper and curtains to Aotearoa for 75 years. Hear what they've been reading and learning this year.

The Interior Awards have been running for a decade now. What has been an interior project that you’ve found particularly rewarding, inspiring or innovative over that period?
Hadleigh: A favourite project of mine is Light Mine by Crosson Architects. It’s inspiring to see the mining history of the local area be displayed in a new light and with a new purpose. These tunnel features create unique interior spaces that draw a view skyward, invoking one’s imagination of what’s above as they once did with the prospect of what’s below. The combination of natural timber and contrasting dark features throughout create a warm space with echoes of a darker past.
New Zealanders have explored more of their own backyard this year. Is there a stand-out place that you’ve discovered (or rediscovered)?
John: I recently spent a long weekend at Raglan. This is one of those places which is so close but I had never got around to visiting it before. A great place to discover. We thoroughly enjoyed its laid-back, relaxed lifestyle, great coffee, food, art, bush walks and world-renown surf beaches.
Tell us about one new skill or interest that you’ve acquired over this last crazy year?
TJ: I have taken a great interest in camping. Lockdown last year has made me realise that we are very fortunate to be able to spend time outside of our homes. So I have taken this opportunity to explore more of the great New Zealand outdoors. And I have discovered that I am great at setting up tents!
At a time when we’ve all binged TV, books, podcasts and other media than ever before, what was your favourite find?
John: Netflix series Tin Star was a favourite of mine. I’m a fan of Tim Roth and his minimalistic dialogue with great acting. It’s a story that keeps you wanting to watch the next episode.
