Meet Fraser Chatham
Up-and-coming photographer Fraser Chatham is originally from Whangamata. Post study at the Elam School of Fine Arts, he completed the scholarship programme at Auckland’s Kingsize Studios.
His personal work often focuses on the abstract, with images that appear like renders but are in fact photographs.
Chatham designed the Interior Awards 2018 branding, responding to a brief that spoke of modern minerals with emphasis on light, texture and form.
Chatham says, “I worked with art directors Thomas Cannings and Andre Kini to develop a concept around a selection of key words involved in interior design – organic, smooth, shadow, modern, composition, sculptural.
“We wanted the image to be captivating, contemporary and abstract, but not have a reference to a specific material, time or place.”
He also created the colourful, innovative Ink series for the 2017 Urbis Designday, which was on display at Paterson’s showroom in Mount Eden. Keep an eye out for this rising star.
