Meet Autex – sponsors of the 2026 Interior Awards
Autex has supported the Interior Awards for the past four years. Founded in 1967, Autex Acoustics is a New Zealand-owned and operated company that designs and manufactures beautiful acoustics for the built environment. We spoke to the team about industry changes, inspiration and being a valued partner to the industry.
The Interior Awards programme began in 2011. What would you say is one of the biggest changes you’ve seen in the industry over the past decade and a half?
Nicola Taylor: Over the past 15 years, I’ve seen a major shift toward designing interiors that prioritise wellness. There’s now a deeper understanding of how our environments influence health, comfort and overall wellbeing. This emphasis aligns closely with sustainable design and reflects how much more value businesses now place on supporting their people through thoughtful, human‑centred workplaces.
What really inspires you – in terms of creativity, innovation and people?
Mea Grgec: I love seeing designers and architects push our products beyond the standard into something innovative and creative. Working closely with them and our own team to experiment with custom details is inspiring as we always find ways to bring those designs to life.
What makes your company a valuable partner to the industry?
Anton Agnew: Our industry partners value our intimate knowledge of acoustics, the technical support we offer, and our capability to collaborate on bespoke projects requiring custom solutions. They also value our pursuit of innovative products and technologies, our nearly 60 years as a New Zealand company, our focus on environmentally responsible materials, and the long-term durability and quality of our products.
