Waka Kotahi, NZ Transport Agency National Premises - Designgroup Stapleton Elliott, Finalist Workplace Over 1000m 2024

This large-scale office is a great example of effectively implementing design elements that blend cultural narratives with functional attributes. Attention to detail is widely evident with solutions playing both aesthetic and technical roles throughout the project. The final result is a modern workplace that everyone can be envious of. A welcoming colour palette, clean design elements and use of plants make this space a true standout.

Whiti Ora|Starship, TOA Architects and Studio DB, Community Impact Finalist 2024

This project is a powerful example of visual storytelling. The designs are used to share a cultural story that reflects the trust whānau place in Starship to care for their tamariki. This forms the heart and inspiration of the project, playing a role in every space. On top of this, the vibrant and exciting colours help to create an environment where creativity and teamwork can be fostered. This space is an asset to promoting the health of Tamariki across Aotearoa.

BIG FAN Recording Studios and Live Music Venue, Matthews & Matthew Architects, Community Impact Finalist 2024.
BIG FAN was a great project to be involved with, as it is a great display of both the aesthetic and technical impact our solutions can have in a space. These recording studios need to be a place where musicians and artists can explore their creative ideas to the full extent. A timber print was paired with high-performance acoustic panels to deliver effectively balanced spaces that artists can enjoy for years to come.

The team at Autex Acoustics were asked to select a solution from their range that the design industry should know more about, Autex Acoustics chose the recently launched Embrace™.

Embrace™ is an acoustic wall system that unites the tactile warmth of New Zealand strong wool with a timber frame. Made using wool with a carbon negative footprint of minus 8.6kg CO2e, this system also boasts high-performance acoustic absorption and a new colour palette unique to our wool material. A first of its kind in the world, Autex Acoustics are manufacturing building products that support biodiversity and environmental regeneration.
