Massey University announces new Creative Arts Māori and Pacific Research Study Awards
The College of Creative Arts at Massey University is committed to supporting the academic excellence of Māori and Pacific students.
Partner content: The College of Creative Arts at Massey University is offering six $10,000 study awards for Māori and Pacific designers and artists to begin a postgraduate masters qualification in design, fine arts or Māori visual arts in 2019.
The College, based on the Wellington campus, is committed to supporting the academic excellence of Māori and Pacific students and creating a learning environment where their advancement is supported.
“We celebrate our place in the Pacific and honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its principles including te reo and tikanga Māori. We are working to provide research-led opportunities to help achieve positive outcomes for Māori and Pacific students,” says Professor Julieanna Preston, co-coordinator of the Master of Fine Arts.
“Our aim is to grow our capacity to respond to the current learning and development needs of Māori and Pacific students and their communities. We are committed to demonstrating authentic leadership in a contemporary Aotearoa New Zealand and aim to uphold Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its principles through our practice.”
The School of Design Ngā Pae Māhutonga, Whiti o Rehua School of Arts, and Toioho ki Apiti, Māori Visual Arts (based on the Palmerston North campus) are inviting applications from those who have the potential to lead in their field of research and creative practice.
Applicants can use the award for tuition or for research project materials and activities. Candidates must have applied to the MDES, MMVA or MFA.
