Landscape Architecture recognised as best professional title at national media awards.

There was a media scrum of almost biblical proportions at Auckland’s Pullman Hotel on Friday 18 May, as representatives from the country’s print and online publications descended upon the Canon Media Awards 2012.

Amongst the dispensation of gongs for news reportage and photojournalism there was found a special reward for a small New Zealand publication – Landscape Architecture NZ – which took out the Best Trade or Professional Magazine Award.

Judge Ross Middleton said in a world where magazines are supposedly under threat of extinction, this year’s winner tells us otherwise, epitomising the very best features of a vibrant and relevant media model. Stylish in form, simple yet elegant in design, cleverly targeted yet wide ranging in its editorial delivery, Landscape Architecture NZ combines clear and logical typography with stunning imagery to remind us all why we love magazines.

This award was the second success for Landscape Archietcture NZ. Earlier in the year, the magazine also took out a ‘Maggie’ for cover design. To celebrate these award we’ve compiled a gallery of covers dating back to issue #7, the first issue following the magazine’s comprehensive redesign back in 2010.
