Christchurch and Auckland based company, Propellor Property Investments, is sending four volunteers to Nepal in October to assist in the build of 40 new homes for families in need.

The volunteer project is led by Habitat for Humanity - a not-for-profit Christian organisation that works in partnership with people of goodwill and families in need of housing, to eliminate substandard housing by building, renovating and selling simple houses on an affordable basis.

The final four volunteers will be selected on 1 July, 2012 and will visit Nepal from 7 to 13 October, joining with 150 other Habitat for Humanity volunteers from around the world to participate in the build. The experience will be captured on video, and shared with clients and the community.

Propellor Property Investments Principal, Nikki Connors, said: “Community is a vital part of the Propellor philosophy, culture and how we deal with our clients. Contributing to our community, locally, outside of our organisation, and internationally in places like Nepal, is just something we see as our responsibility.”

“Our commitment is to put a donation from every sale of investment property into the fund to take clients away every year for this experience of a lifetime. Eventually we want to send up to six people a year.”

Propellor Property Investments is now calling for volunteers to register at www.propellorproperties.co.nz/sponsorship-from-propellor-habitat-for-humanity/. The final team will be drawn in July, 2012 and notified by email or phone.

Propellor has made a commitment to send four New Zealanders overseas each year to aid in Global Village housing projects. In 2010, volunteers went to Everest to participate in the build of environmentally-friendly bamboo houses. Next year’s funded trip (2013) is likely to be to Cambodia, Vietnam or China.
