After much consideration, it has been decided that the Interior Awards Designer of the Decade award will not go ahead for 2021.

Organisers are grateful to all of the previous jurors and Supreme winners who took the time to vote for their picks for the Designer of the Decade along with the members of the wider industry and public who took part in the nomination process. It resulted in several talented designers being recognised by their peers for their contributions to New Zealand interiors over the last 10 years, whose achievements should not be minimised. However, organisers note, “the nomination process had some unintended consequences that, once highlighted to us by those nominated, did not fairly reflect the diversity of the industry we wanted to celebrate in the first place”.

The Interior Awards hopes to bring the Designer of the Decade programme back in the future as it continues to celebrate the very best in New Zealand interiors for years to come.
