Design can’t wait
New Zealand urban designer Garth Falconer key note speaking at West Australian design forum.
Reset Urban director Garth Falconer has been shoulder tapped to be one of the key speakers at the upcoming 20th annual West Australian Design Forum. Falconer is one of five outstanding-in-their-field multi-disciplinary designers who have been asked to present. He’s also the only non-Australian – a rogue New Zealander in what would otherwise be a complete cobberfest. Falconer says it is an honour to be asked, and also that it “shows that there is international interest in what we are achieving over here.”
Other speakers at the event include Benja Harney, a self-taught ”paper engineer” from Paperform, Sydney that specialises in high-end pop-up books; Leigh Carmichael from MONA, Hobart – a graphic designer and photographer who has shaped the identity of Australia’s largest private museum, the Museum of Old and New Art; Emma Williamson from CODA, director and co-founder of one of Perth’s most innovative architectural firms; and Catherine Malady POD in Brisbane, who specialises in retail concepts.
