Christchurch: a city for the people
The redesign of Christchurch could be achieved in a people-focussed manner, built on evidence and facts and centred around economic success; so says visiting UK architect Tim Stonor.
An urban planner and visiting professor at University College London, Stonor has devoted his career to the analysis and design of human behaviour patterns – the ways in which people move, interact and transact in buildings and urban places. His area of expertise includes the design of spatial layouts and, in particular, the role of space in the generation of social, economic and environmental value.
Stonor will be presenting his ideas – using examples from the UK, China and the USA as well as discussing the Christchurch situation – at a free breakfast presentation at the Christchurch City Council offices in Heresford Street on Thursday 04 July from 7.30am-9.30am.
