Bounce Back 2013
Registration is now open for the inaugural New Zealand Institute of Building (NZIOB) conference, Bounce Back: Construction, Recession, Recovery.
The conference will focus on four themes surrounding the challenges the construction industry is facing as it bounces back from a recessionary period to service the higher levels of activity brought about by the twin demands of the Christchurch rebuild and Auckland’s projected growth.
The Minister for Building and Construction, Hon Maurice Williamson, will open the conference, before industry experts from New Zealand and overseas present an engaging array of talks throughout the day. The event will conclude with networking drinks.
NZIOB conference chair Malcolm Fleming said the underlying theme for the conference was to facilitate collaboration amongst all stakeholders and to create a durable future for the construction industry.
“When this conference was first envisaged we quickly became interested in how the construction industry will cope with the transition from a prolonged period of being in survival mode, to becoming seriously extended with the upcoming rebuild and growth demands. It was important to us that we help the industry avoid the boom-bust patterns of previous property cycles,” Mr Fleming said.
“From this bounce back was conceptualised with an energetic conference targeted at key participants in both the construction and greater property industries.”
The conference will be held at Auckland’s Langham Hotel on 09 April 2013 and is open to NZIOB members and non-members, with the non-member early bird registration rate valid until 10 March 2013.
