Auckland and Northland supreme homes revealed
A new home in Takapuna and a renovation in Devonport have been named this year’s finest Auckland homes, winning Supreme Awards in the Auckland and Northland Registered Master Builders 2014 House of the Year.
Bonham Builders & Management took out six regional awards with the Takapuna home, including a Gold Award and category win for the Westpac Homes over $2 million, as well as the Craftsmanship Award, Heart of the Home Kitchen Award, Plumbing World Bathroom Excellence Award and the Supreme Award for the Auckland and Northland Registered Master Builders 2014 House of the Year.
Absolute Building Services was awarded the Supreme Award for the Auckland and Northland Registered Master Builders 2014 Renovation of the Year for their home in Devonport, as well as a Gold Award and overall category win for the Future-Proof Building Renovation Award over $500,000. The company also won a Gold Award in the same category for another renovation in Parnell.
Bonham Builders & Management’s winning build impressed judges who said, “This is a unique home. With a series of pavilions on a small site with a black exterior and golden interior, it exudes warmth through a unique blend of birch plywood and yellow cedar.”
“Boasting mind-blowing features, including an interior glazed bridge, a beautifully crafted stainless steel kitchen and the technology of window areas disappearing into floors or sliding upwards, every space and feature of this home has been meticulously designed and built.”
“This house is to die for. A builder of superb skill has made the dream come true for these very lucky homeowners.”
The judges said Absolute Building Services’ extensive renovation in Devonport required a builder of great skill and confidence, working with an extremely difficult site.
“This was a major renovation to a property which takes in the magnificent views of the harbour and the nearby naval base,” they said.
“Beautifully crafted and styled to bring simplicity to the living spaces and an easy flow from the interior to the cantilevered decks, the builder should be congratulated for his workmanship and project management.”
The results were announced at a gala dinner on Saturday, 9 August at the Viaduct Events Centre. The event was attended by members of the local building industry and the Auckland Registered Master Builders.
There were 28 Gold Award winners from Auckland and Northland which will now be assessed alongside Gold Award winners from across the country to find the National Gold Reserve finalists, which will be announced in early September.
National category winners and the Registered Master Builders Supreme Awards for Renovation of the Year and House of the Year will be announced at a gala dinner in Auckland in November.
The Awards are made possible through the support of PlaceMakers, James Hardie, GIB, Nulook, Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment, Future-Proof Building, Carters, ITM, Plumbing World, Resene, Westpac and Master Build Services.
