Architecture Workshop wins at World Architecture Festival day two
The South Island’s Lindis Lodge wins the Hotel and Leisure category at the second day of the Amsterdam event.
Architecture Workshop’s Lindis Lodge was named the winner of the Hotel and Leisure – Completed Buildings category at the second day of the World Architecture Festival in Amsterdam.
Festival organisers said, “The site is exposed to an extreme climate ranging from plus 35 degrees in summer to minus 16 degrees in winter with severe winds as a regular occurrence. Judges described the project as ‘poetic’, ‘inspiring’ and ‘sensitively considered’ with sustainability at its best ‘from water treatment, heating, cooling, natural ventilation and insulation’.”
Additionally, a proposal for Wynyard Crossing in Auckland, designed by Monk Mackenzie, Beca, Eadon, Wraight + Associates and Athfield Architects was awarded a Highly Commended distinction in the Infrastructure – Future Project category.
