As we celebrate a decade of the Interior Awards, we’ve got a stacked line-up of industry innovators and experts on our judging panel. In 2021, we are also announcing Architecture NZ interior editor, Amanda Harkness, as convenor of the jury. Meet the group below.

Rufus Knight

Interior designer – Knight Associates

Rufus studied at Victoria University’s School of Architecture and Design in Wellington. After working in Europe, he started his Auckland-based studio Knight Associates in 2016, concentrating on interior architecture and design.

Rufus was awarded the Designers Institute of New Zealand’s highest achievement for Spatial Design, the Purple Pin, in 2015. His studio curated part of the New Zealand pavilion at the 2016 Venice Architecture Biennale and recently completed work on prestigious Auckland multi-residential project, The International. Rufus is currently collaborating with Les Mills, Fisher & Paykel and Aēsop, amongst others.

Amanda Harkness

Interior editor – Architecture NZ

A former editor of Houses magazine, Amanda has written for Urbis and Interior and is also assistant editor of Architecture NZ. While studying towards her Bachelor of Arts at Victoria University, she took two architectural papers with the late Russell Walden and developed an enduring appreciation for the works of John Scott, Ian Athfield, Le Corbusier and Frank Lloyd Wright, amongst others.

Amanda’s career has seen her work in many aspects of media, initially working in magazines then across advertising, television, and PR, as well as book editing, and she has also recently completed a renovation on her own Mt Eden villa.

Sarah Bryant

Workplace strategist/interior designer – Peddlethorp Architects

Sarah is a leading workplace strategist and designer, having delivered some of New Zealand’s largest commercial and award-winning fitouts. She has practised for almost 20 years, both internationally and locally, recently joining the Peddlethorp team to lead what is a rapidly evolving world of workplace design.

Sarah is passionate about creating inspiring environments that support us to work, learn, socialise and celebrate together. Working with leading public and private sector organisations to create workplaces that provide the flexibility and adaptability to prepare them for the future, she is respected for her ability to hear clients’ needs and translate that into a tangible outcome which reflects the business and its people.

Craig Moller

Architect – Moller Architects

Craig is a director at Moller Architects. He has degrees in architecture from the University of Auckland and Yale University. His work at Moller Architects varies from the small to the large, the private to the public. He teaches studio part time at the University of Auckland and he is on the Board of Trustees at Western Springs College/Ngā Puna o Waiōrea. He considers education to be of fundamental importance.

Craig draws in his spare time and rides a bike.

Raukura Turei (Ngāitai ki Tāmaki, Ngā Rauru Kītahi)

Architect, artist and mother – Monk Mackenzie

Raukura is an architect based in Tāmaki Makaurau. She was the recipient of the Interior Awards Residential award in 2020 for her project Owairaka House, which she designed through her practice, Studio RT. She has practised in Aotearoa and North America, gaining her registration with Stevens Lawson Architects. She has worked on a range of projects with Monk Mackenzie, from large-scale commercial to high-end residential and, currently, a community centre and transitional housing project for Te Kiingitanga and Te Ara Poutama.

Raukura is also an artist and she has exhibited throughout Aotearoa and internationally, including representing New Zealand at the Tokyo Art Fair in 2018.
