Dunedin School of Architecture supported by OPSA, SANNZ, Resene, Architecture NZ magazine and internationally acclaimed photographer Simon Devitt has launched an architectural photography competition to celebrate new talent.

The competition is open to amateur and non-professional photographers or architecture photography enthusiasts (‘professional’ is defined as anyone who earns over 20% or more of their income through photography at any time).

Judging the entries will be Simon Devitt, Mark Boland and Graeme Campbell, who bring combined expertise across architecture, art, academia and photography — Simon Devitt has also donated a copy of his latest photo book Cape to Bluff as one of the prizes up for grabs.

One entrant will receive the Supreme Award, with awards for each category and special awards in the form of a Resene Colour Award and Student Award to be named on 16 September.

Winning images will be exhibited during the 2024 Aotearoa Festival of Architecture.
